Safety in Our Building
One of our priorities at SPES is to keep our children safe, so REMEMBER, if you visit, you must sign in at the office and get a yellow name sticker before you enter our hallways.
May Is Busy
As you can see by the calendar, May is a very busy month. Every day will bring a new adventure. For students to participate, they must have good behavior and completed class work. TCAPS are over, but school is not!!!  It is important that students are on time and are prepared for each day.

Plan Ahead for Next Fall
Students will register for the ‘10-11 school year on Thursday, August 5th.  The first full day of school will be Monday, August 9th.

Shot Requirements for Seventh Graders
Each child who is entering 7th grade in August 2010 will have to have a Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis booster and either 2 doses of the varicella vaccine or documented history of varicella (chicken pox).  This information must be provided to the school before enrolling in 7th grade.

Thanks for a Great Year
This year has been a very good year at SPES. We have worked together, had a great series of Night Programs, performed well on our TCAPS and had much better attendance. This is a direct result of students, parents, teachers, staff and our whole community working towards the goal of making SPES the best school around.  We appreciate everyone’s hard work. Have a great summer, and we will see you next fall.

Sixth Grade Honors Night
Honors Night for our Sixth Graders will be Monday, May 24th, at 6:00 pm. We are excited about sharing this special evening with our sixth graders. Parents, please make plans to attend.

Thank You to P.T.O
A big thanks to our P.T.O. officers, parents and friends for their many helpful contributions.

TCAPS were a big success thanks to all of the volunteers who proctored and/or sent snacks. We also appreciate all of those who helped with the National Cornbread Festival gates. This puts money directly into the classroom to be used for the students. Once again, a big THANK YOU for all that you do.

Buy One, Get One Free Book Fair
SPES will celebrate books with our end of the year book fair on Wednesday, May 5th, and Thursday, May 6th.  The book fair will be open from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. each day in the third grade wing of the building; just follow the signs.  Students can shop if they have money.  Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend with the students during school hours.  This is the Buy One, Get One Free fair where you can stock up on summer reading materials.  Please attend and promote the importance of reading.

Fall Break will be October 11-15, 2010

Congratulations to the
S.P.E.S. Sixth Grade Class of 2009-2010
